When using a liquid starter, allow it to soak in for about one minute before lighting. --After coals are ash covered spread into single layer. --To check temperature of coals, hold the palm of your hand 4 inches above coals. Count to number of seconds before the heat forces you to take your hand away; 2 seconds for hot, 4 seconds for medium, and 4 seconds for low. --To lower cooking temperature, spread coals further apart. To raise temperature, move coals closer together. | |
